Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth and health. Our two specially equipped dental stations look like your dentist's office, but without the chair. Since our patients must be under general anesthesia to have work done in their mouth, we usually recommend pre anesthetic blood tests to be sure they can handle the stresses of anesthesia.
We use modern, safe water cooled electronic dental scalers to clean each tooth thoroughly, above and below the gum line, then we polish your dog's teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface making them more resistant to plaque buildup.
If extractions are necessary (and unfortunately they often are), we use a high speed air driven handpiece, just like your dentist uses, to gently section and remove the tooth. In many cases we will prescribe antibiotics and pain control medication to be administered for a few days at home.
