To keep your pet healthy, All Creatures recommends a comprehensive yearly wellness examination for all pets and twice yearly for seniors. These exams let us detect problems early, before they become serious, and help your pet live a long, healthy life. We also strongly recommend yearly parasite stool examinations and heartworm tests for all dogs and outside cats.

As in human medicine, we now recommend baseline bloodwork for all pets and geriatric workups for older pets. Many diseases are insidious in onset and can only be detected in their earliest stages by timely blood tests. By catching these disease processes early in their course we can often preserve organ function and slow the course or cure the disease.

You are the expert when it comes to knowing what is normal and what is abnormal for your pet, so it is important for the person who brings your pet into the hospital to know as much as possible about what is wrong. We will want to know if his appetite normal? Is he drinking a normal amount water? Any diarrhea, vomiting, cough, sneezing? Is he lethargic? Is he having trouble getting up or walking?  Any weight loss? Has he been breathing normally? The more you can tell us the easier it will be for us to tell what the problem is.

Once we have compiled this current information and reviewed your pet's medical history, it is time for a thorough physical exam. We will examine your pet's eyes, ears, nose and mouth, listen to his chest, examine his joints, palpate his abdomen, take his temperature, examine his skin, coat and reproductive system.coat.

Vaccination is the backbone of modern preventative medicine. Since Rabies is diagnosed yearly in Rockland County in cats, bats and raccoons, all dogs, cats, and ferrets should be vaccinated against Rabies as required by state law. Vaccination protocols against other infectious diseases are constantly changing and evolving, so please contact All Creatures for our latest recommendations
